ABOUT: The event is a 17-year tradition that celebrates Ellsworth’s designation as the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin. The festival pays homage to the beloved cheese curd with hand battered deep fried curds and signature sauces, and other creative cheese curd-influenced cuisine. In addition, a full schedule of live music, beer & cider tasting, and wine & cheese pairing events entertain guests throughout the 1-1/2 day festival. Other events include the Cheese Curd 10 & 5K Run, Cheese Curd Eating Contest, classic car show, and many other family-friendly activities.
ATTENDANCE: Thanks to a $25,900 marketing grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, a $34,000 advertising and promotion campaign was used in 2017 to draw guests from throughout the region. We welcomed a crowd of over 5,000 Cheese Curd Festival attendees! We’re thrilled to announce that we are the recipients of a $13,900 Department of Tourism JEM grant for the 2018 Cheese Curd Festival! These funds will leverage a $28,000 advertising and promotion campaign to further establish the festival as a regional foodie event. We are expecting to draw a crowd of over 6,000 this year.
VENDORS WE ARE SEEKING: We are seeking vendors highlighting regional specialties and locally grown, handmade and handcrafted. Examples include pre-packaged specialty foods, reclaimed art and furniture, yard and garden art, clothing, jewelry and accessories, and Americana. Third party sales will not be accepted. For vendors selling pre-packaged food items, samples are encouraged and permitted. No cooking is allowed except to provide free samples and demonstrate use of the item being sold.
VENDOR FEE: $100 before May 15, 2018, $125 thereafter. If your application is not approved fee will be returned.
BOOTH: Booth size is 12’x12’. A tent or canopy is strongly encouraged; tents may not exceed the 12’x’12 space allotment and must be able to withstand inclement weather (i.e. bring weights for your tent, as you may not be able to stake into the ground). Vendors must provide their own displays, including tables and chairs. Vendor is entirely responsible for the leased space, and, for safety reasons, shall keep it free from any dangerous conditions. Booth clean-up and garbage removal is the vendor responsibility.
FOOD SAFETY: All booths sampling food products must adhere to Wisconsin food code for safe serving. Inspectors may be on site.
WEATHER: No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather.
ELECTRICITY: Electricity is limited. Please indicate if you require electricity ($15 charge).
SET-UP: Set-up details will be announced once all booths are confirmed. Set-up will be on Friday AM. Vehicles must be removed from Wall Street by 3pm Friday and will not be allowed on Wall Street on Saturday.
TEARDOWN: No early teardowns — you may begin dismantling your booth after 8pm on Saturday; however, vehicles will not be permitted on Wall Street until after 8pm Saturday for safety reasons.
SALES TAX: All vendors are responsible for collecting appropriate sales tax (Wisconsin tax of 5.5%) for all sales during the Festival.
SECURITY: There will be security on patrol during the show and at night. To be safest please secure/remove all valuables before leaving your booth. We cannot be responsible for damage or loss of any items left overnight.
